Hello Family!
Welcome to the October 2020 edition of family news and updates.
The Holiday Season
The pandemic has certainly taken the momentum out of 2020, and I’m hoping that all of you are doing well. It has been a challenging year, hasn’t it?
Traditionally, October is the time when I start thinking about two things: Christmas and Family!
You might – correctly – wonder why it’s time to start thinking about Christmas so soon. It’s a great thing to wonder! The answer is that Christmas really IS just around the corner! At least, for the Columbus, Ohio Semeraro’s.
About half of us live outside of Ohio. So, we really need to start thinking about travel plans – and taking time out for Halloween and Thanksgiving – right about now.
Here in DC, I love heading down to the Christmas Attic in Old Town to pick up the Christmas cards I like to send out. Notoriously, friends and family receive the SAME card from me every year. I also like to send out an additional card – to keep the year unique and shake things up a bit. Crazy? Of course! But – if you’re crazy enough to start preparing for Christmas in October, that’s how you roll. I know my friends and family love me. Besides, for the cards I get, I spare no expense. We’re FAMILY. It’s OK to have quirks.
As for the rest of my family, we start getting ready for the Holidays in our own special ways. We make it a point to see each other on Thanksgiving and Christmas. Along the way, we figure out how to get dinner, presents and good times ready for everyone. For as chaotic as things can be, it’s actually an amazing fact that we seem to pull the Holidays off very well.
It’s very early – but I’d like to wish everyone a Happy Fall, Halloween, and Thanksgiving! Most of all – a very Merry Christmas 2020!
There WILL be more holiday updates and news this year! Just getting things started …
The Family Website
And, if there is one thing that has been affected by the events of 2020, it has been the Family Web Site.
Great progress was made on the site earlier this year! I’m praying that Fall/Winter 2020 will see a resurgence in things that can be accomplished with the site.
The website needs to be something Family and Friends can be proud of.
Here’s to hoping that the Christmas Season brings wonderful changes and additions to our Family Website.
For starters, I’m going to post regular monthly updates for everyone. I pray that, over time, these will become a welcome and happy addition to the site content.
